The Legacy of My Friend Scott Wirtz
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Over the past 12 years I’ve written thousands of articles, essays, posts and tweets.
I’ve shared with you the births of my four children, the deaths of family members and personal and professional milestones. I’ve shared quotes and practical ideas that inspire me, difficult experiences I’ve learned from and hurdles I’ve yet to overcome. It’s been my honor to introduce you to the fascinating people I’ve met and the lessons we can learn from them.
All of this has been shared in the hope that it might empower us to live a little more inspired today then we were able to yesterday.
From ALL of this, the post liked, commented and shared more than any other was my Facebook post from last Sunday evening. It garnered more than 7,000 likes, 600 comments, and 2,300 shares. So, what was it about?
Scott Wirtz. My friend from high school. A good guy. Always thinking of others. He joined the Navy Seals upon graduation. And I had just learned he was killed while serving in Syria.
My friends, Scott’s story will inspire you to do, to be, to serve, to sacrifice, to smile, to live, and when the time comes, to die, in such a manner that those who know you are not only better because you were in their lives, but remain changed forever because of you.
